Why Drama Workshops?

Our workshops are not about creating child stars and our foundation is not built around the idea of being a famous Hollywood star or going on to be on the screen... If this happens naturally, then great... but we do not push our students to go on and achieve stardom. As a company, we are about much more than that.

We believe in developing the confidence of students, by engaging them in fun and creative drama workshops to enable them to feel comfortable in their own skin and gain a firm understanding that we are all different in so many ways.

We aim to inspire, empower and encourage our students to ‘step outside of the box’, embrace their imagination and learn to express their feelings and emotions through drama.

We focus on a combination script work and improvisation during our workshops and each term we work towards an end of term showcase.

The skills that are developed through learning the foundation of drama are ones which can be put to great use in life as we progress on our journey into adulthood and what we teach can translate to social and professional skills sought after in many workplaces.

The strict disciplines of being an actor include - punctuality, an ability to listen and communicate, take direction and work together as a team.

Drama builds confidence,

develops creativity,

improves verbal and non-verbal communication skills,

develops empathy,

develops concentration,

encourages teamwork and collaboration.

Drama workshops develop new friendships and encourage children to support each other throughout their journey.

Improvisation

The skills students learn in improv — teamwork, collaboration, listening, communication, and the ability to adapt and problem-solve — can translate to social and professional skills sought after in many workplaces.

These are skills that can be transferred to the work world, like being an engaged and active listener and being able to process information and react. If something comes up unexpectedly, having participating in improvisation workshops gives you an ability to solve problems in real time and come up with solutions. That’s basically what improv is — going onstage and not knowing what’s going to happen and just feeling confident that you’ve trained yourself to deal with that.”

Improvisation can build social and interpersonal skills.

Script Work

When a student is taught how to learn a script, using professionally driven techniques, this can go on to improve their ability to retain information and be used later down the line when revising for exams and can also give them the confidence to speak in public, stand up and perform. They will be taught clarity, diction and elocution techniques and in turn, this will help them voice themselves with clarity and strength in later life.

Showcase

At the end of each term, we will showcase what we have been working on with a production on the stage to an audience of fellow pupils, teachers and parents.

This really does speak for itself, we aim to develop our students confidence to enable them to stand on a stage, in front of an audience and deliver their performance.

We help and encourage our students to overcome the fear of public speaking by nurturing their insecurities and showing them just what can happen when you let go of fear and enjoy yourself!
